Helen C. Homan
Helen C. Homan, 73, a longtime resident of Plainfield, passed away peacefully on February 10 at Seasons Hospice home in Naperville. She was born on June 22, 1944 in Johnstown, Penn.
Helen is survived by her loving children, David Edward (Jennifer) Homan, Jr. of Tunnel Hill, Ill., and Joyce (Sean) Miller of Plainfield; her cherished grandchildren, Keith Homan, William Dodge, Travis Homan and D.J. Homan; her dear siblings, Rosemary Zeno, Alberta Romanow, Francis (Margaret) Harris, Geraldine Keyser and Raymond (Maryann) Harris; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Homan, in infancy; her parents, Francis and Leona (nee Montag) Harris; and her sisters, Agnes Wilson and Leona Flowers.
Helen was known as “The Lunch Lady” at Plainfield Central High School. She was well loved and was “Gnomie” to all of the students and was a grandma to all. Helen was always there for her grandsons’ different sporting events cheering them on. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Immaculate Church and a selfless volunteer at the Plainfield Interfaith Food Pantry. Helen loved to travel around and visit wineries or going out on the boat at her son’s home. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 15, 3 until 8 p.m. at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 16, 11 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield.
