Shirley Mizener, long-time area resident of Downers Grove since 1930, passed away while she and her husband were in Florida.
Mizener had lead roles in music singing in the Operetta’s while at Downers Grove High School, in church and more. Music was not her only talent, she was president of the Downers Grove Art guild.
Her art identity and paintings are everywhere, including the walls of Good Samaritan Hospital and hundreds of homes, churches, professional offices, her Florida winter home and the Sarasota/Bradenton Beach community.
Nearly all of 70 years of being with her husband, she was involved deeply in all the vision programs, his Optometry profession and the Downers Grove Lions service.
She leaves behind her greatly talented offspring, three children, five grandchildren and four and a half great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at the Carriage Green Country Club at 1 p.m. June 26.
