Kay L. Goben Gillespie
Kay L.Goben Gillespie nee Townill, 75, of Plainfield, formerly of South Carolina, passed away on July 24, 2017 at Joliet Area Community Hospice. She was born October 22, 1941 in Plainfield. Kay is the beloved wife of the late Derrell Gillespie and the late Kenneth R. Goben. Loving mother of Wendy L. Scott and Kenneth M. (Teresa) Goben. Beloved daughter of the late Ethel and Murley Townill. Proud grandmother of Amber Donnelly, Joshua Lamb, Kayla Scott, Robert Shelton, Tami (John) Akers, Jennifer Michalec, and Julie (Jonathon) Long. Great-grandmother to many. Dear sister of Muriel (William) Funai, Doris Lamping, Norma Fuller, the late Carol (the late Richard) Gilson, and the late Jack (Linda) Townill. Fond aunt to many nieces and nephews. Loving foster mother to many. Kay had a distinguished 30-year career at Caterpillar. She was an avid camper and was a long time member of the Camping Club at Deer Creek. As a member of the National Audubon Society, she was dedicated to bird watching and documenting the different species she saw. She also loved old books, and had an extensive collection. Family and friends to gather Wednesday, August 2nd 4:00 PM until time of funeral service 7:30 p.m. at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Rd. Plainfield. Interment Thursday, August 3rd, 11:00 AM at Plainfield Township Cemetery.
