Obituary: Jeffrey C. Francik

Jeffrey C. Francik

Jeffrey C. Francik, 36, a lifelong resident of Plainfield,, passed away unexpectedly on April 26,at his home. He was born on March 20, 1982 in Joliet.

Jeff is survived by his devoted mother, Peggy Francik of Plainfield; his loving sister, Nicole (David) Sterka of Jacksonville, Fla.; cherished nieces, Lily, Katelyn and Piper Sterka; beloved maternal grandparents, Charles and Ursula Nally of Louisville, Ky.; numerous cousins and relatives in Germany and Italy and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father Phillip Francikin 2006 and uncle Kenneth Nally in1978.

Jeff graduated from Plainfield High School Central, Class of 2000.  He played baseball, soccer and football in Plainfield leagues and travel teams.

He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 82 in Plainfield.  Twice he went on a High Adventure Trip to Sea Base, Key West, Fla.  He went to Philmont, N.M. and other Scouting trips that took him to Indiana and Wisconsin. He earned the Order of the Arrow and received his Eagle Scout rank.

Jeff traveled many times to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.  Also went to Paris, Prague and Budapest.  One of his favorite places to visit was their family house on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

He worked for many years as a department supervisor at Walmart.  He enjoyed cooking gourmet meals, putting together puzzles, drawing and working on cars, especially his Camaro.  His outdoor hobbies included fishing and golf.  He cheered for the White Sox, Dale Earnhardt and his Dallas Cowboys.

He enjoyed the company of his beloved dogs, Rocky and Lila.

“Jeff, you are now with Dad.  Take care of each other.  We will miss you.  We love you.” Love, Mom.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jeff’s name may be made to American Diabetes Association, 55 E. Monroe St., Suite 3420, Chicago, IL 60603 or Will County Humane Society, 24109 Seil Rd., Shorewood, IL 60404.

A memorial visitation is Saturday, May 5, 1-5 p.m. at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. A celebration of Jeff’s life will follow at 5 p.m. in the funeral home.  Interment will be at Plainfield Township Cemetery.
