Martin “Marty” Keniley, age 57, died at home Sept. 20, 2016, surrounded by family.
He was born May 29, 1959. Marty was preceded in death by his mother, Carole (nee Stites) Keniley, father Maurice “Skip” Keniley, sister Maura Pedersen and father-in-law Bob Frazier.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (nee Frazier) Keniley; sons Noah and Shane Keniley; brothers Mike (Marsha) Keniley, Norman Keniley and Sean Keniley; sisters Mary Sebby, Margie (Dale) Hanson and Teresa (Joseph) Coccaro; brothers-in-law Bob (Mary) Frazier, Glenn (Kathryn) Frazier and Greg (Jeni) Frazier; sister-in-law Joanne (Larry) Hutchisson; mother-in-law Donna Frazier; step-mother Gayle Keniley; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marty served in the U.S. Navy from 1978 to 1984, stationed in Rota, Spain, during the Beirut conflict. Marty had a long, courageous battle with spinocerebellar ataxia 3 (aka Machado Joseph Disease). He worked for Citgo Refinery in Lemont as an instrument technician until his disability forced him to retire in 2000. Marty loved his large extended family, travel, wind surfing and huge backyard barbeques.

Visitation was Sept. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Route 30 and Route 59 in Plainfield. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. A private family interment will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
